Fergie Cast to Play a Prostitute in Nine

Pop star Stacy Ferguson (Fergie) has been cast to star as Saraghina a prostitute in the big-screen adaptation of the award-winning 'Nine' musical and is thrilled about the role. Fergie will perform with Guido the song 'Be Italian' being played by Daniel Day-Lewis. Fergie said, "She's basically a prostitute on the beach. She introduces him to the world of sexuality. It's a very strong song. I'm just thrilled I get to play a character," She tells the AP.

"I'm singing, but I'm not singing as myself. I'm going to be singing as a character, and that's what's really exciting to me."

Filming is scheduled for October with a slew of other actresses joining the 33-year-old Black Eyed Peas vocalist. Other cast member include Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench and Penelope Cruz.

Fergie was in Vegas on Monday debuting her new shoe lines that will launch in Spring 2009. In case you're wondering what Fergie shoes look like. Just picture "stripper shoes" but you didn't hear that from us.
